Li Auto forms partnership with Honor

Zhao Ming, CEO of China's smart phone brand Honor, said that the brand has formed strategic partnership with Chinese electric vehicle startup Li Auto. Besides, the executive said that the phone brand will not make vehicles and continue to focus on phone segment for a long term.

MIIT to accelerate automotive chips’ standard system facilitation in 2022

China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released the key points of automobile standardization in 2022 on March 18th. On March 18th, Mercedes-Benz Group AG, announced that it has set up an R&D center in Shanghai dedicated to mobility technologies. The center is Mercedes’ second R&D center in China, indicating the auto giant’s commitment to the China market with expanded investments. 

Arm China joins hands with China’s vehicle chip developer SemiDrive

China’s automotive chip supplier, SemiDrive, has partnered with Arm China to develop next-generation automotive electronic and electrical architecture products, the chip maker announced on March 18th. 

Sunwoda EVB to build 20GWh battery production base in Sichuan province

Sunwoda Electric Vehicle Battery Co., Ltd. (“Sunwoda EVB”) will sign an agreement with the government of Shifang, Sichuan province, for a power battery manufacturing project, according to an announcement issued on March 17 by Sunwoda Electronic Co., Ltd. (“Sunwoda”), the parent of Sunwoda EVB.

HOZON Auto announces price rise 

HOZON Auto, the Chinese startup owning the EV brand NETA, announced on March 18 it has lifted prices of several models by 3,000 yuan ($470) to 5,000 yuan ($790) due to multiple factors like the increase in prices of raw materials and supply constraints.

Leapmotor files for IPO in Hong Kong Stock Exchange

On March 17th, China’s EV startup, Leapmotor, filed for an IPO in Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX), marking the fourth mainland EV maker to start share trading in HKEX.
