XPeng leads China's LiDAR supplier ZVision's Pre-C investment round

China's auto-grade MEMS LiDAR supplier, ZVision announced on Jan. 10 that it had completed its Pre-C round of financing, led by XPeng Inc., with hundreds of millions of RMB raised.

Other participants in this investment round include, SAIC Motor's Shangqi Capital, Dongfeng Motor's Dongfeng Bocom Auto Funds, and ZVision’s existing shareholder, Intel Capital.

XPeng's supercharging network covers all 337 cities in Chinese mainland

XPeng announced on Jan. 18 the comprehensive coverage of its supercharging facilities in 337 cities across Chinese mainland, including 333 prefecture-level cities and 4 direct-administrated municipalities.

The startup also noted it had offered the 180kW DC supercharging service to 12 cities, including Nujiang, Qamdo and Linzhi of Tibet, where such kind of charging equipment is extremely rare.

XPeng's HK shares included in Shenzhen-HK Stock Connect programs

Ordinary shares of XPeng Inc. (“XPeng”), which trade on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong (“HKEX”), had been included in the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Stock Connect programs, according to the announcement issued by the Shenzhen Stock Exchange on Feb. 9.

The move would enable qualified investors from the Chinese Mainland to have direct access to XPeng's Hong Kong shares, subject to specified daily quotas, so as to improve the liquidity of the startup's stocks.

XPeng expands presence in Europe, establishing sales and service partnerships in Netherlands and Sweden

XPeng announced on Feb. 11 that it had reached strategic partnerships in the Netherlands and Sweden, and it would open its self-operated experiencing retail stores in Europe.

XPENG reached a strategic Agency Retail collaboration agreement with Emil Frey Nederland NV (“Emil Frey”) for the Netherlands. Emil Frey would develop XPENG's sales and service network throughout the Netherlands.

XPeng leads $200 mln round in smart EV-focused fund Rockets Capital

Rockets Capital, a China-based private equity firm focusing on investments in the smart energy vehicle (EV) supply chain, announced on March 17 it had closed its first round of over $200 million in capital commitments.

The new funding round was led by the EV startup XPeng and also attracted such leading institutional investors as IDG Capital, eGarden, Sequoia China, 5Y Capital, and GGV Capital.

XPeng hits 100,000-unit production milestone for P7 BEV

On March 23, XPeng saw the 100,000th P7 sedan roll off the production line at its Zhaoqing plant, the first all-electric model owned by a Chinese NEV startup to hit this milestone, the automaker announced via its twitter-like Weibo account.

It took only 695 days for XPeng to hit the production outputs since the P7 went on sale on April 27, 2020.

XPeng granted 7.5 billion yuan of credit line by Agricultural Bank of China

XPeng announced on April 27 it had signed a cooperation agreement with the Guangdong branch of Agricultural Bank of China (“ABC”) for a credit line worth up to 7.5 billion yuan ($1.143 billion), the biggest amount ABC had ever granted to an NEV startup in China.

Under the agreement, the credit line would be used to support the operation and development of XPeng's automotive business. The latest move signifies the mutual trust between the two parties and ABC's high recognition of XPeng's industrial position and development prospect.

XPeng introduces algorithm-based smart payment plan service

On May 26th, XPeng hosted a launch event to introduce its smart installment plan, making it the first auto brand to adopt the smart distribution payment plan within the industry.

The XPeng smart installment product was a collaborative result between the automaker and seven banks, including Ping An Bank, China CITIC Bank, China Construction Bank, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Shanghai Pudong Development Bank, and Bank of Shanghai.

XPeng lays foundation stone for auto parts industrial park in Zhaoqing, Guangdong

On May 30th, XPeng inked a cooperation framework agreement with the administrative committee of the High Technology Industrial Development Zone of Zhaoqing city, Guangdong province, to build an industrial park for supporting auto parts.

The two parties would establish a joint recruitment working mechanism and government-enterprise communication mechanism to promote the settlement of XPeng's up/downstream industrial chain project in the city.

XPeng partners with Baidu's Xiaodu for onboard intelligent speech experience

On Jun. 21, Baidu's intelligent speech arm, Xiaodu Technology, formed a partnership with China's new energy vehicle startup XPeng for an optimized onboard experience.

As one of the leading smart car makers, XPeng would leverage its advantages in automotive intelligence, while Xiaodu would offer its technology and resources in the intelligent speech field to the cooperation.

XPeng to supply vehicles to car rental company eHi

On July 19th, XPeng and eHi, the Chinese car rental service provider, inked a strategic cooperation agreement at XPeng’s R&D headquarters in Guangzhou.

The two companies also completed their first vehicle delivery at the event. Per the agreement, eHi would purchase XPeng’s vehicles in the next three years. Meanwhile, the duo would work on constructing a supercharging network, strengthening vehicle operation and user service experience, as well as promoting their joint brand images.

Trial production factory of XPeng-backed flying car firm starts operation

XPENG AEROHT, the UAM (urban air mobility) company affiliated with XPeng Inc., saw its trial production factory begin operation on July 25, according to a Weibo post by He Xiaopeng, chairman of XPeng.

The chairman said that just four years ago, XPeng also rented a trial production factory similar to this in size, but with different techniques and equipment. For example, the seven carbon-fiber-dedicated autoclaves working under atmospheric pressure were rarely used in automaking techniques.

XPeng, Alibaba Cloud set up China's largest computing center for autonomous driving

On August 2, XPeng and Alibaba Cloud announced the completion of their jointly built autonomous driving intelligent computing center, Fu Yao, located in Inner Mongolia.

The center is built in Ulanqab City, the center of Inner Mongolia. The city holds unique advantages in location and climate, which serves mega data centers perfectly. Currently, there are twelve big data centers in the city, including centers from Alibaba Group and Apple. 

XPeng G9 kicks off presale

XPeng released interior images of its new model, the G9, and kicked off presale on August 10th. The model was expected to hit the market in September and start delivery in the fourth quarter of 2022.

The G9 features an embracing and luxury cockpit design. It is installed with a two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel and embedded LCD dashboard. The 14.96” center control screen connects with the 14.96” passenger-seat screen as a dual display. The three screens (including the dashboard) can interact and link with each other.

XPeng launches S4 super-fast charging pile

At the event held on Aug. 15, XPeng announced the first S4 super-fast charging pile had come online, which can run at up to 480kW and 670A.

On the XPeng G9, the newly-launched charging facility can work at a maximum rate of 400kW and offers the vehicle a 200km of CLTC range through a five-minute charging session.

XPeng G9 Flagship SUV starts from 309,900 yuan

On September 21, XPeng revealed the pricing and specifications for its fourth production model, the G9 Flagship SUV, for the Chinese market. Coming with three range options and six configuration selections, the model features a price range of 309,900-469,900 yuan.

The three series (categorized by range), namely the RWD 570G, RWD 570E, and RWD 702E; the 4WD Performance 650E and 650X; and the Launch Edition 650X are expected for first deliveries in October 2022. Notably, the 4WD Performance models come standard with a dual-chamber air suspension system. The G9 offers a maximum CLTC range of 570km, 650 km (4WD), and 702km in each trim level.

XPeng G9 passes closed-field autonomous driving test in Guangzhou

XPeng announced in Oct. 10 that its G9 model had successfully passed the autonomous driving closed-field test per the relevant requirements of Guangzhou.

In compliance with Guangzhou's intelligent connected vehicle autonomous driving function test requirements, the test was conducted at night time with 31 urban traffic scenarios to validate the G9's autonomous driving performance under complex conditions. 

XPeng introduces latest mobility technologies at Tech Day 2022

XPeng unveiled its latest technical achievements at its fourth annual Tech Day held on Oct. 24, including the company's next-generation neural network-based perception architecture, closed-loop AI and data management platform, industry-leading voice and smart cabin technologies, as well as the latest developments in its mobility ecosystem that encompass robotaxi, flying car and robotics endeavors.

XPeng's flying car arm XPENG AEROHT receives 6-billion-yuan bank credit

On November 8, XPENG AEROHT, the flying car company of XPeng, entered into a strategic partnership with the Agricultural Bank of China (ABC), China Construction Bank (CCB), CITIC, and Shanghai Pudong Development Bank (Guangdong/Guangzhou branch) to receive a 6-billion-yuan credit line.

Per the agreement, the four banks jointly granted a 6-billion-yuan credit line to XPENG AEROHT to support its research and development, as well as the manufacturing of flying cars.

XPeng sets up new power battery-making subsidiary

In Dec., XPeng set up a subsidiary working on power battery-related businesses, indicating the company's intention to build up its capability in in-house development of batteries.

According to the corporate information inquiry platform Tianyancha, the aforesaid subsidiary, named Guangzhou Pengyue Power Battery Co., Ltd. ("Pengyue Power Battery"), was incorporated on Nov. 21 with a registered capital of 5 billion yuan. It features a business scope that covers manufacturing of batteries, auto parts, and intelligent in-car devices, as well as production of battery components.
